Anna and Garrison have recently completed a brief tour of New England, including visiting really great friends in and around Boston, MA and Providence, RI! And before we got to the east coast, we were lucky enough to get to spend a night on another friends’ family’s beautiful farm in eastern Ohio. And while Garrison thought it would be hard to top the culinary excellence of the donuts he enjoyed while back in Michigan, we have greatly enjoyed eating the following:
- home-cooked food fresh from the garden,
- superbly authentic Thai food at the restaurant where the staff was excited that we might go to Chiang Mai when we’re in Thailand,
- New England clam chowder paired with a flight of tasty beers, and
- home-made pizza paired with none other than the Michael Jackson station on Pandora and a few shots of tequila. ¡Arriba!
And you know what will get you out of bed faster than any alarm clock you’ve ever had? Hearing someone yelling in full Boston accent at 7:30 AM, “HEY! GONNA TOW YA CAAH!” outside loudly enough to be clearly audible through the walls of your friends’ apartment. Pure Boston — you gotta love it.
While in Boston we went on whale watching tour out of Gloucester that was a “perfect storm” of awesome. We saw dolphins (whales that live in pods) and hump back whales (solitary creatures.) All this visiting has had us thinking about our “pod” of friends and family. Ya’ll are so cool!
Even though we are setting out into the world on our own (hump back whale style) right now we have felt love, support and care from our friends and family at every turn. Whether it’s a free bed and meal at the end of a 10 hour day, to letting us send mail to your house, to taking us in and sharing your life with us for a few days we have felt blessed and grateful for you and the big old pod of dolphins out there. And New England did not disappoint! Please enjoy the following few pictures showing our pod members living in the Northeast (and Ohio).
In a while, crocodile!
