In August of 2013, Anna and Garrison set off on a year of travel and adventure, known formally as The Year of Fun. They hope to see family and friends they haven’t seen in a long time, go places they’ve never been, and have experiences that allow them to grow personally and professionally. Follow their geographical progress on the maps below, and follow their accounts of adventure and other fun exploits by reading their periodic posts to this blog.
Pretty Cool Map #5: Year of Fun Phase V: El Camino de Santiago. We are currently walking a pilgrimage across northern Spain. We started in St Jean Pied-de-Port, France, and will make our way to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Every pin on the map represents where we walked for every day. (If this map doesn’t load, click on the “View Larger Map” link under where it should be, and you can see the larger version. I’ll hopefully get this kink worked out soon.)
Pretty Cool/Pretty Plagiarized Map #4: Year of Fun Phase IV (Trans-Mongolian & Trans-Siberian Railway). We traveled by train from Beijing, China to Moscow, Russia over 3 weeks, stopping off in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and numerous places in Russia.
Really Cool Map #3: Year of Fun Phase III (Southeast Asia). We spent two months traveling around and exploring Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, and Laos.
Really Cool Map #2: Year of Fun Phase II (Hawai’i). We WWOOFed on an organic farm in Moloa’a, Kaua’i for two weeks, then vacationed on the Big Island for a week, then volunteered at Koke’e State Park back on Kaua’i. Aloha!
Really Cool Map #1: follow where we are! This shows us ending our USA road trip somewhere in Utah. That did not happen. Google just couldn’t handle how awesome our entire road trip was, and threw in the towel as we entered the land of national parks and the west coast. We eventually ended up back in Seattle, wrapping up Phase I of the Year of Fun.
